Which archive types are supported?

Synchronize It! internally supports only zip archives. This means that you can work with zip archives without any additional tools (such as WinZip) installed. However Synchronize It! can also use external archivers to support other archives types, such as rar, bz2, arj.

What can I do with archives?

Archives support allows you to:

  • create backup archives from folders;
  • compare folders content with archived version and update it;
  • compare and synchronize 2 archives with each other.

How to use archives in Synchronize It?

To select an archive you can either simply type it's name in source\target field in Start Dialog, or browse for existing archive by pressing arrow sub-button and choosing Archive from submenu.
Apart from this, you will not notice any differences between working with archive and working with plain folder - Synchronize It! will list files, pack/unpack them as necessary - all without your intervention.
