Which image formats are supported

Compare It display images without using any thrid party components, only with system images support. So list of supported image formats will depend on your Windows version; Windows 2000, XP and newer systems should support at least these files: bmp, ico, cur, jpg, gif, png.

How to use image comparison

  1. To enable\disable Image viewer choose Options > Options, select Viewers page
  2. You can toggle Image\Text mode by using menu View > View As
  3. To change image scale: click with right mouse button do display popup menu or press Ctrl+Num+ / Ctrl+Num-

How add support for other image formats

You can use Converters feature to work with other image formats. As an example, here you can find instructions on configuring nConvert tool.

nConvert now is a part of XNView - good freeware image viewer application. You can find it here.

  • Download and install nConvert
  • In Compare It! open Options > Converters, add new converter
  • In Mask field specify all images you want to support, ex. "*.tiff, *.tif".
  • In Command field specify your local path to nconvert.exe
  • Finally, in Arguments field, type this: "-out bmp {$Source_File} {$Converted_File}"

this will make Compare It! invoke nConvert for all *.tiff images to convert them into bmp format. This image format will be recognized and loaded for image comparison.
