Ignore Difference

Not sure if this is a BUG, or a FEATURE request... I have been using your product regularly for years, and have praised its features to many colleagues. However, this week it has let me down... I have a pair of large files (2.5MiBytes) with a bunch of differences at the top and bottom of the files, ...

Converted file shows current time/date for time stamp

I was comparing an older version of an XML file to a newer one, and noticed the timestamps of both were changed to the current date and time. Since XML files are processed/simplified ("converted") before comparing, the files are being shown as if they were just generated. The same thing happens with...

"marking" could be the exact same as regular block oriented Ignore Diff Toggle (ctrl-k) - my setup (default?) shows a yellow area to the left of text but right of line numbers. And overview strip on edge turns white/clear. Suggest placing command under the same Merge/Ignore_Diff menu as the Toggle c...

I know. I saw the vendor's name.
I think they do - I certainly hope they do.

Not sure if your question is for ignoring a line in one pane only vs "matched" line in each pane... If so, there are cases where I just want to note that I have reviewed the line, and don't want to waste my time re-(re-...)reviewing the same. So, my preference would be to ignore the line on the pane...

Comparing password protected PDFs

I often receive PDF documents that are detailed specifications. When a new version arrives, I need to quick review what has changed from the previous copy I have reviewed. I, of course, reach for CompareIt! The problem is when someone considers the contents sensitive, and password protects the PDF. ...

... sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I've been very busy ... So I assume IgnoreDiff is not enough for you? That is what I was referring to - it ignores a BLOCK of diff lines, and has no facility to ignore individual lines in a block. You can just set bookmarks, as an example, if you do no...

More line granularity needed

I need to ignore lines, not blocks of lines. I can find no options or settings that will give me this granular control over what lines I need to review further and which ones I have already reviewed and can be ignored. Any suggestions? If not, please consider this post as a suggestion to add this ca...

[quote="grigsoft"]Yes, 3.9.9 is used as v4 alpha. 3.8 is basically frozen, ... maybe I will make an update with tweaks and fixes which I can apply to 3.8. As for "wincmp3" name, it was not a good idea to add version number to exe, but I don't want to do it again - probably it will stay this way.[/qu...

Hmm. Maybe my mistake? But I am not sure... I had forgotten you were labeling the files for v4 alphas as wincmp3.exe... The title of the window shows "4a" The help shows 3.9.9.1935. Very confusing. I thought version 4 was a significant re-coding effort. I have been avoiding using v4a's for regular u...

Sorry.

Doh!
New machine, with a new path.

The converters I use most are internal converters (PDF, etc).

I forgot there was any setup for these converters.

Thanks for the reminder.

Doesn't work for me

I have recently tried to compare an INI file that was not a text file - it was binary. I tried to convert the standard view (.INI is normally treated as a text file) by using the View>ViewAs>bin2hex. Nothing changed on the screen - the comparison was still as a text file. Even when I compare two dif...

Externalize options/settings

One thing that in previous versions of CompareIt that was a nuisance was I don't always use CompareIt to compare the same way each time. Each task requires different optional settings, some are subtle and some are majorly different. I would really like to be able to save these settings in an externa...
