Handle with hidden and system state of files and directories

Using the exclude-directory option of the select folder window in the directory-select-box hidden and/or system directories are not shown. Even if I add them manually they seem not included.
e.g. I don't want to include "Content.IE5" Folder of the "Temporary Internet Files" but all others. All folders are sytem and hidden. How can I do so?

The problem mostly is sitting in front of the computer.
The manual addition of hidden and/or systemfolder in the directory-select-box works.
