hard links

Post by Spitfire_ch »

I learned to appreciate hard links recently. For example, I use them to create a "best of" subfolder in a picture folder, where I can keep hard links of the best pictures, without wasting space as real copies would. However, if I copy such a picture folder including the hard link folder to a different drive (or synchronize it to a different drive), all hard links will be converted to normal files which will waste a lot of space.

Is it possible to make synchronize it recognize hard linked files and maintain hard links when synchronizing?

Thank you very much

Thank you for suggestion. In fact I have never used hard and soft links myself, I will check how can I support these identities.

Well, after first research it seems that it's impossible to copy hard link - simply because there is no way to say if this file is a hard link or not.
